Morning Has Broken

Light was just bursting into the skies and breaking the darkness. As I lay enjoying a few more minutes in bed, I heard the most beautiful chorus of birds. These are all small birds that shelter at night in the huge old Fig trees just at the bottom of the garden. More and more voices joined in till there was a crescendo of song. Somehow all the different voices made for an orchestra of praise to the God who made them, no choir could compete with. Not a care that they had just come through a bitterly cold night, and face a blustery day ahead, they were ready, and they would awaken the dawn with a new and beautiful song. Psalm 57:8
I thought about the tiny voice boxes of these little birds. Some of them are so tiny you could fit several in your hand but each has its own voice box that seems to have the clarity of any much larger musical instrument, for that matter, so tiny compared with the human voice box, yet so given to singing and breaking the dawn of a new day with songs of praise.
They need not other accompaniment, no earthly conductor; just each one opens its little mouth and sings its songs of praise to the Maker. What if it is cold, what if the supply of food is low? The Master cares for them and they live each day caring not what tomorrow will bring but today, today is what the Heavenly Creator has given them and today they will sing whatever happens.

Matthew 6:25 to 34 we find these verses of Scripture. I love these verses as they say so much about daily life and need and who our supplier is:
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in his all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
So much that many of us take for granted in daily life, is a desperate need for others. In these beautiful, profound but simple words above, Jesus puts so much in perspective. The meeting of needs is a matter of life and death to so many, while others go through each day not even acknowledging that God IS their source.

The key is ‘seek FIRST the Kingdom of God’ and all else will follow. You see this is not about seeking FOR our needs but seeking HIM for who He is. If we would just, ‘get things in order’ so to speak, then all else falls in place. Father desires to be the centre of attention of our lives. If we would make HIM centre, give HIM that pivitol, priority position then we too like the birds of the air could live in a place of absolute trust. These little birds were created by His Hand, so marvellously made, feathered more warmly in winter to keep warm, provided with God’s restaurant of delights, and with voices that issue forth in praise and worship that is worthy of Heaven, in the midst of the seasons of their lives.

What a difference it would make if we were to really believe His Word, to make it our daily FOOD, the SUBSTANCE of His Presence and Power within us? Make Him the centre of our universe and then simply to praise, to worship Him through the ‘seasons of life? Has “morning broken for you” in the midst of a harsh ‘season of life’? Come with me today and walk with the Master, feed on HIS FOOD, let your eyes see clearly the wonders of creation and your heart beat strong in His Presence. Let the ‘morning of His Presence break’ over your life today.
